Explore Our Various Ministries Here:

Adult Fellowship Group

This group meets for monthly fellowship and social activities. The date and location varies and is announced in the weekly bulletin. Past activities include movie nights, picnics, and visits to theatres, festivals, and museums. Newcomers are always welcome. A planning meeting is held each Fall to organize the upcoming year’s activities. Suggestions are always welcome.

Baptism

Our Minister is available to talk with you about the Sacrament of Baptism, if that interests you or a family member. The Presbyterian Church believes there is only one Baptism, it is good for life, and that infants with the authority of the parents may be Baptised. The main criteria is an interest in being part of a Christian Faith Community like the ‘Saints’.

Bible Study

A lively discussion is held each week for anyone interested to share in fellowship and to nurture spiritual growth. The study atmosphere is friendly, comfortable and generates great exchanges of opinion, as well as lots of laughs. Participants report increasing awareness of their own spirituality and relationship with God.

Bulletin

A bulletin containing two parts is circulated by email each Saturday. The first part is a detailed outline of the next day’s Sunday Worship Service, including the text for prayers that are offered up in common or responsively, hymn titles, other praise music, the text of that Sunday’s Bible readings, and the sermon title. The second part contains the announcements of upcoming church events, activities and special occasions. The bulletin allows everyone to keep up to date on happenings important to us at the Saints.

Choir

The choir meets in the church sanctuary each Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to join for great fellowship and music, regardless of musical abilities. No auditions are held.

Lay Reading

Any Congregant who is interested may read aloud the Bible readings at Sunday Worship. A schedule of Lay Readers is prepared in advance two or three times a year, so in order to read the scripture aloud you must be scheduled to do so.

Living Waters

From time to time throughout the years, an informal gathering of people of mostly African origins will offer a song on praise during worship. These occasions are usually scheduled in advance, but also may be organized on the day of worship.

Mission

Mission is a guitar-led ensemble of 3-6 people that sometimes leads praise during worship, and frequently plays a gospel song as an anthem during collection.

Pastoral Care

Church elders who are particularly gifted in mercy and are sensitive to those in need of care share in this extraordinarily rewarding outreach ministry. Referral for anyone who may be in need are always encouraged.

Prayer Shawls

The ‘Saints’ gathers volunteers to knit or crochet shawls and pray as each one is made. Completed shawls are blessed during Sunday worship and are then given to designated people in need. Prayer shawls are offered to people facing illness, grief, transition, or celebration. Referral may be made by anyone, and recipients of Prayer Shawls from the ‘Saints’ have come from around the world. This ministry provides comfort, spiritual support, and a warm reminder of God’s care.

Social Time After Worship

Our time-honoured tradition is to serve refreshments immediately following our Sunday morning worship service. The wonderful fellowship served up is a point of pride at the ‘Saints. This ministry is usually led by high school youth of the church community seeking to complete their minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service, and provides them with a great opportunity to contribute to, and share, in church life.

Sunday School

Sunday School is provided in the hall downstairs during each Sunday’s worship service (during the school year) for children ages 3‑14 (with flexibility offered at both ends of the age bracket, so as to accommodate the needs of individual children and families). In accordance with the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s “Leading with Care” policies for children, youth and vulnerable adults who participate in our church’s activities and/or use our facilities, children will be cared for with Christian compassion and will be kept safe, with a two-person supervising rule in place, at least one of whom has gone through a police check.

Ushers and Welcomers

Each Sunday we have two people designated to greet fellow worshippers as they arrive and offer a warm welcome to newcomers. The two people also do the collection of the offerings each Sunday.
